Make a list of all of your monthly bills, rent, utilities, food transportation, etc. These are the things that you know you spend money on every month no matter what. Next, write down everything you spend money on each day, for an entire month. These are discretionary items like a coke or a pack of gum, or eating out at restaurant. Once you have a complete list of spending you will know where every Penney of your money goes. Now, review the list and decide what can be eliminated and/or cut back on. Everyone should be able to find at least some money, when they need money now, by cutting expenses.
2. Change Exemptions for Taxes
If you work a regular job you must fill out a W-4 form telling the employer how many exemptions you have so they know how much to withhold for taxes. The W-4 can be changed periodically by you as your circumstances change. You can increase your take home pay by increasing the number of exemptions claimed. This can be done on a temporary bases, when you need money now, for a short period of time. For example, if you claim 0 exemptions you could claim 4 and increase your take home pay each month for three months to help get over a financially tough period, and then switch back. If you have your W-4 set to break even at the end of the year you can still use this technique, just be aware that you may owe taxes at the end of the year and plan accordingly.
3. Sell Un-needed Items
Go through your home and find items you do not need or want that are in good shape and sell them. You could have a garage sale or a yard sale or even sell them on e-bay. You can get quick cash from furniture, appliances, cloths and jewelry you no-longer want, when you need money now.
4. Start a part-time business
Consider starting a part-time business. If you have a special talent or a hobby that could become a business this could be a way to generate extra income quickly. If you can write fairly well you can write articles on the internet for cash. There are several sites that pay people upfront for writing articles and they pay weekly or bi-weekly.
5. Find a part-time job
Many people work an extra job for extra income. There are many part-time jobs available in fast food restaurants and retail stores. This is a great way to make extra income.
